Berlin, August 2003 - Testing Technologies IST GmbH
Germany has successfully implemented TTCN-3 testing technology
on the Tektronix Protocol Tester K1297-G20. This key event
is yet another compelling demonstration of the high degree
of flexibility this advanced testing technology is endowed
with, making it ideal for use with a huge range of disparate
testing devices. The current implementation is the result of
a cooperative venture between Testing Technologies and Tektronix
in the field of TTCN-3-based test solutions. The project intends
to give Tektronix customers an efficient means to develop their
own TTCN-3-based test solutions using the Tektronix K1297-G20
Protocol Tester.
Implementing Testing Technologies TTCN-3 Compiler TTthree
on the K1297-G20 unleashes the full performance potential of
testing hardware and software. As the only standardized test
specification language, TTCN-3 offers a raft of innovative,
powerful testing features, whilst the K1297-G20 provides direct
access to more than 700 protocols and interfaces for UMTS,
GPRS, GSM, CDMA and other mobile, core and access networks.
Developers and providers are thus positioned to ensure continuous
product quality based on standardized testing technologies.
“Tektronix’s decision to implement TTCN-3 on K1297-G20
shows that our endeavors to standardize the TTCN-3 execution
environment started at exactly the right juncture. Because
it’s only with standardized interfaces like the TTCN-3
runtime interface that users can enjoy the full range of benefits,” explains
Theofanis Vassiliou-Gioles, CEO of Testing Technologies. “The
partnership between Testing Technologies and Tektronix underlines
our commitment to offer our customers not only best-of-the
breed TTCN-3 test solutions but also to provide them with access
to the latest cutting-edge test hardware. Using TTthree, Testing
Technologies TTCN-3 to Java Compiler, the immediate execution
of a TTCN-3 test suite on the K1297-G20 is now possible.”
Testing Technologies IST GmbH Germany develops and markets
testing tools based on TTCN-3. Tektronix is one of the leading
manufacturers of testing, measuring and monitoring solutions
for providers and equipment manufacturers in the mobile network
sector.
The first results of the cooperative venture between Testing
Technologies and Tektronix were unveiled in spring this year
when a TTCN-3 UMTS test suite using K1297-G20 was successfully
demonstrated at CeBIT 2003 and at TestCom 2003, the International
IFIP Conference on Testing Communicating Systems, held at Sophia-Antipolis.
The demonstration showed how a standard PC using the TTCN-3
execution environment could use the functionality of the K1297-G20
to test radio interface core network protocols.
