Navtel Integrates Testing Technologies' TTCN-3 Compiler & Runtime Environment into InterWatch

Berlin, September 27, 2004 – Navtel Communications Inc., a leading developer and provider of test equipment for the laboratories of network equipment manufacturers and operators has entered into an agreement with Testing Technologies of Berlin to provide an integrated TTCN-3 (Test & Test Control Notation – 3) development and test suite runner environment on Navtel's award winning InterWatch platform.

Joel Orvis, TTCN3 Product Manager at Navtel stated that “Testing Technologies‘ TTCN-3 compiler and editor solutions combined with the InterWatch’s intuitive test suite runtime environment bring a powerful new software option to the InterWatch. It allows users to rapidly author their own test suites, as well as providing an environment to expand the protocol test suites offered by Navtel to include testing of non-standard functionality. Since TTCN-3 is an industry recognized ETSI standard designed especially for protocol testing, test suite developers don’t have to spend time learning a language that is specific to one test device”.

Once functional, conformance or interoperability test suites have been developed in the TTCN-3 development environment, they can be configured and run repeatedly in the InterWatch Test Suite Runner over user selectable transport layer protocol stacks. The Test Suite Runner works autonomously, allowing reliable and inexpensive automated regression testing of implementations in network vendor and operator labs.

Theofanis Vassiliou-Gioles, CEO of Testing Technologies, explains that “the partnership between Testing Technologies and Navtel underlines our commitment to offer our customers not only best-of-the breed TTCN-3 test solutions but also to provide them with access to the latest cutting-edge test hardware. Testing Technologies always targets customer expectations with standardized solutions. Navtel's decision to implement TTCN-3 on the InterWatch platform shows that our endeavours to standardize the TTCN-3 execution environment started at exactly the right time.”

Navtel's InterWatch

Navtel's InterWatch won Frost & Sullivan's prestigious Communications Test & Measurement Product of the Year Award for 2004. The InterWatch platform is a powerful, complete network test solution. It provides a combination of modular interfaces and applications to meet the needs of the most challenging test environments. The InterWatch architecture provides application testing support for leading technologies including Voice over IP (VoIP), Generalized /Multi Protocol Label Switching (G.MPLS/MPLS), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Quality of Service (QoS), ATM Signaling (UNI, PNNI), Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA), IP Performance Testing and Access technologies.
