To bring the benefits of model driven
testing into the TTCN-3 sphere, Testing Technologies, a leading
TTCN-3 test tool provider, and
Conformiq
Software Ltd, a
leading provider of model driven testing technology, have
put their forces into a joint project.
The result is a solution for generating TTCN-3 test scripts
from system models. By combining the Conformiq Qtronic tool
and Testing Technologies’ TTworkbench, it is possible
to employ model driven testing in a TTCN-3 environment. TTCN-3
test cases can be derived automatically from a functional
design model and be executed against a real system.
"Model driven testing is a universal, general technology that
will change the way we do systems testing", says Antti
Huima, Managing Director of Conformiq Software. "But
the general technology must be integrated within the processes
and platforms in use at any specific enterprise. TTCN-3 is
a great, modern platform for organizing the management and
execution of test cases. By integrating model driven testing
with TTCN-3, many companies will find it easy to fit in their
processes. If TTCN-3 is already in use, existing TTCN-3 assets
can be used as parts of the model driven testing process.
Hand-written and machine-generated test cases can be combined
and managed seamlessly", he explains.
Regarding the relationship with Testing Technologies, Mr.
Huima comments: "We have chosen Testing Tech among the
existing TTCN-3 vendors for their deep expertise in developing
and deploying TTCN-3 worldwide. They are the most dynamic
vendor on the market and focus on TTCN-3 only. We find a
lot of positive potential for continuing our joint working
in future projects."
Theofanis Vassiliou-Gioles, Chief Executive Officer of Testing
Technologies says: "We see model driven test case design
as an exciting, complementary method that will leverage the
added value of TTCN-3 based testing processes. Conformiq
has the most impressive offering among model driven testing
technology providers. Their commitment to an open architecture
makes it very easy to integrate their capabilities in our
TTCN-3 tools. I believe many of our customers will find the
result definitely interesting."
