TTCN-3 specialists, users and tool vendors from all over the world came together for the
6th TTCN-3 User Conference (T3UC) at ETSI in France.
Speakers from France, Germany, Spain, Russia, China and Canada presented their know-how and latest developments on the TTCN-3 market.
The conference demonstrated that TTCN-3 has notably spread and established itself as the test automation language of choice in various domains like telecommunication, automotive and medical business.
One of the hot topics of T3UC 2009 was the new TTCN-3 standard version 4.1.1, a milestone on the maintenance of TTCN-3. It was published on June 2. This version includes many features requested by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) in order to satisfy the requirements imposed by the specification of TTCN-3 based LTE test suites.
Testing Technologies, Platinum Sponsor at the T3UC, has actively contributed to the discussions about adopting the new features in the TTCN-3 standard. Their upcoming release of TTworkbench, the integrated TTCN-3 development and execution environment, will support all new features introduced in Version 4.1.1. With this major milestone, TTworkbench will be one of the first development environments to satisfy the 3GPP requirements and thus be „LTE test specification“ ready.
With the upcoming TTplugin Quality Center, Testing Technologies assures a seamless integration of TTCN-3 tests into an existing HP Quality Center environment, supporting distributed testing teams for example in offshore test development, which was one of the discussed areas of applications at the T3UC.
HP Quality Center offers one single web based application for all essential aspects of the test management. It provides a consistent, repeatable process for setting up requirements, for planning and scheduling tests, for analyzing results, and for managing test run results. This software enables users to automate quality processes and procedures within the longer application‘s life cycle. Furthermore, it supports communication and cooperation between IT teams.
Testing Technologies has also been actively involved in the preparation of the 1st TTCN-3 Tool Plugtests™, running in parallel to the T3UC. Goal of this event was to demonstrate interoperability of TTCN-3 tools between different tool vendors. Both inter- and intra-communication test scenarios have been performed successfully, showing 100 percent interworking.
Testing Technologies would like to thank all participating parties, in particular ETSI for their organizational support and the 3GPP group for their valuable input, making the TTCN-3 User Conference and Plugtest such a success.
Reflecting the growing interest and numbers of users in Asia, the next event is scheduled to take place in Bangalore, India, from November 17 to 19, 2009. Testing Technologies is planning to participate in this exciting event, and welcomes all interested parties to meet us there.
